<desc>The RTS award-winning documentary series from St George's hospital in south west London, which has one of Britain's busiest and most advanced A&amp;E departments. This episode focuses on patients and their families who feel like a guardian angel has watched over them at a crucial time. Zaki, who's 63, recently underwent a tonsillectomy after being diagnosed with throat cancer. But he's come to A&amp;E after suffering a bad bleed at home. He's transferred to resus so that doctors can get his bleeding under control. Zaki's wife Kalala talks about their secret love affair in Iraq. As Kurds, they had to flee the country. 'My husband was very brave. I felt safe, as though there is an angel who is always guarding me,' says Kalala. 'He has to be in my life. If he has to go, I'm going with him. There is no way I can stay in a world that he does not exist.' Ten-month-old baby Amy is rushed to St George's after her parents awoke to find she'd stopped breathing. Doctors are concerned that Amy's condition could deteriorate and need to work quickly to work out what is wrong with her. Paediatric registrar Sharmila is looking after Amy. 'There's quite a long list of things that make a baby stop breathing,' says Sharmilla. 'It's a scary position to be in as a parent.' Meanwhile, 21-year-old expectant dad Craig has fallen 30 feet while racing his motocross bike, which landed on top of him. It looks like he's had a miraculous escape. But will Craig learn his lesson? <desc>The RTS award-winning documentary series from St George's hospital in south west London, which has one of Britain's busiest and most advanced A&amp;E departments. This episode focuses on patients and families whose good humour and positivity help them to cope in tough circumstances. Paula, who's 84, has been referred to St George's by her GP for urgent treatment. A routine blood test detected that Paula has a dangerously high level of potassium, or salts, in her blood, which can be toxic and cause cardiac arrest. Paula's had tough times, losing three husbands and one of her six children, and her mother also treated her very badly. But Paula has bounced back through her good humour. Derek, who's 74, is brought into A&amp;E after having a suspected stroke. He had a sudden severe headache and his wife Mary noticed he was confused. A CT scan reveals that Derek's had a bad bleed in his brain. He's taken for emergency surgery. Mary is determined to help Derek recover. Meanwhile, 31-year-old firefighter Glenn has come in to A&amp;E with his twin, Dean. Glenn has a suspected abscess in his throat. The brothers are inseparable and even finish each other's sentences. After 15 years of saving and planning, they're finally able to start building their large, new family home on a steep slope on the edge of the village. They're desperate not to annoy their neighbours, so their innovative design features just one storey that's visible from the main road, with two more storeys buried out of sight lower down the slope. The start of construction proves to be more a feat of civil engineering than a house build, with the difficulty of excavating into solid limestone compounded by an incredibly steep and muddy access road for the heavy machinery. Then when their self-build mortgage falls through, work stops for months. It's a major test of Saffron and Fred's commitment and resolve, when all they have to show for years of effort is a huge hole in the ground... <title lang="en">24 Hours in A&amp;e</title>
<desc>The RTS award-winning documentary series from St George's hospital in south west London, which has one of Britain's busiest and most advanced A&amp;E departments. This episode focuses on the close relationships between parents, children and partners. Nine-year-old Robert is in A&amp;E with his dad, Marcus. He has a heart problem and today he has a dangerously high heart rate: it's been up to almost 200 bpm for nearly an hour. Doctors are concerned and decide to give Robert strong medication that will stop his heart for a few seconds and should restore his normal rate. Robert, a talented and keen rugby player, may need a pacemaker fitting and faces an operation in later life. It's a scary thought for his dad Marcus. Mark, who's 32, has fallen 30 feet from scaffolding outside his house while doing DIY. He's conscious, but there's concern that he may have damaged his spine and sustained internal injuries, so he's sent for a CT scan. Mark's mum and dad rush to be with him. Dad Danny is close to his sons after losing his own father when he was 14. Meanwhile, 74-year-old Christine arrives in A&amp;E after an accident in her garden. She fell just five feet, but landed awkwardly on her face and has nasty facial injuries. Her husband Mike is by her side. It's her second fall in a year and he's worried. Mike and Christine first met at school when they were eight and he can't imagine life without her. Series Prod/Dirs: John Douglas, Dominique Foster; Exec Prod: Hamo Forsyth; Prod Co: The Garden Production

<desc>The RTS award-winning documentary series from St George's hospital in south west London, which has one of Britain's busiest and most advanced A&amp;E departments. This episode focuses on strong women who find themselves in A&amp;E on the same day with a wide range of problems. Becky, who's 59, is rushed to St George's after having a suspected stroke. The medics are concerned that Becky could have had a bleed on the brain and send her for a CT scan, which reveals a large blood clot. Her husband Ray talks about first meeting Becky when she was 11 and he was 13, falling in love and her passion for life. Nineteen-year-old Georgia is brought to A&amp;E by ambulance with suspected spinal injuries. Georgia locked herself out of her flat after going out with friends. She was trying to climb in through a second-floor window when she lost her balance and fell 20 feet onto concrete, landing on her back. She's sent for an urgent CT scan and doctors discover an unstable fracture in her back that could damage her spinal cord permanently, leaving her legs paralysed, if she moves too much. Georgia's mum Anita talks about her fiery relationship with her daughter. Meanwhile, 88-year-old Edith has been brought to St George's after collapsing at home. She's given medication to lower her blood pressure. Doctors want to keep her under observation to try to establish the cause of her collapse and rule out any underlying injuries. <title lang="en">999: On the Front Line</title>
<desc>Another typical 12-hour shift with the paramedics of West Midlands Ambulance Service. Filmed as hospital waiting times rocket and the pressures on the service increase dramatically, the series lays bare what life is really like on the front line at the Stoke, Stafford and Willenhall ambulance hubs. A call comes in from the police saying a young man has collapsed outside a nightclub and isn't breathing. It's a category one emergency - the highest priority - meaning there's an immediate threat to life. A young woman is having a sickle cell crisis. This genetic condition makes her normally round blood cells form a sickle shape, sticking together and causing excruciating pain. A woman has the highest blood pressure that one of the paramedics has ever seen, and she needs to go to hospital urgently. A former soldier collapses and is trapped behind a door, and a woman has crippling chest pains. Her condition is a medical mystery that can only be solved with a trip to A&amp;E.
