    <title lang="en">Shayda</title>
<desc>Writer and director Noora Niasari's debut feature is a poignant drama set in 1995 about a woman struggling to start afresh after fleeing her abusive marriage. Shayda (Zar Amir Ebrahimi) and her young daughter Mona (Selina Zahednia) are living in a women's shelter in Melbourne after escaping from Shayda's abusive husband, Hossein (Osamah Sami), who Shayda feared would take Mona back to Iran without her. Despite all this, Shayda's determined to celebrate a happy Nowruz (Persian new year) - a spring festival that symbolises rebirth - with Mona. And perhaps there is hope. She even meets another man - Farhad (Mojean Aria). But the threat of Hossein turning up at the shelter looms large. And Shayda knows that the traditionalists in the Melbourne-Iranian community are unlikely to side with her. Plus, she must deal daily with overt hostility from other residents at the shelter. Can Shayda and Mona find the safety and contentment they deserve? In English and Persian, with English subtitles.

<desc>The first talkie version of the much-filmed Harold Bell Wright novel is directed by Henry Hathaway and stars John Wayne in his first Technicolor movie. In the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, Young Matt Matthews (Wayne) blames his long-absent father for his mother's death and has sworn to kill him should their paths ever cross. The rest of the mountain community seem to have been affected by Young Matt's dark emotions, and rivalries and animosities are rife. Into this tense environment steps a mysterious stranger (Harry Carey) whose acts of kindness begin to heal the troubled populace. But who is he and why does he want to live among them? Also starring Betty Field.

    <title lang="en">The True Story of Jesse James</title>
<desc>Borrowing widely from Nunally Johnson's script for Henry King's 1939 version of the legend (and using two sequences from the same production), Nicholas Ray's film stars Robert Wagner as the legendary outlaw, with Jeffrey Hunter as his brother Frank. As he did in Rebel without a Cause, Ray portrays James as a rebel rather than a simple outlaw, driven to a life of crime by Northern sympathisers after the Civil War, as the film follows the last 18 years of his life.

    <title lang="en">The Mouse That Roared</title>
<desc>Jack Arnold directs this hilariously raucous slapstick comedy featuring Jean Seberg, William Hartnell and David Kossoff. Peter Sellers also adds to his resume by playing Grand Duchess Gloriana XII, Prime Minister Count Rupert of Mountjoy AND military leader Tully Bascombe. When the Duchy of Grand Fenwick's only export - it's wine - is undercut by America, they decide to do the only logical thing... declare war! So they send a small army of twenty soldiers - including Tully Bascombe and his lieutenant Will Buckley (Hartnell) - to 'invade'. The plan is to lose the war but gain financial backing from America in the process. Armed only with medieval chain mail and long bows, they're bound to achieve their goal, right? But when they accidentally blunder across a top-secret lab and capture Doctor Alfred Kokintz (Kossoff) and his 'Q-bomb', things take a rather unexpected turn... Adapted from the 1955 book by Leonard Wibberley.

    <title lang="en">Jubal</title>
<desc>Glenn Ford, Ernest Borgnine, Rod Steiger and Valerie French star in Delmer Daves' western, which is based on Paul Wellman's 1939 novel Jubal Troop and transposes Shakespeare's Othello to the Wild West. Drifting cowboy Jubal Troop (Ford) finds work on amiable rancher Shep Horgan's (Borgnine) estate. Troop quickly impresses his new boss and is offered a permanent job in a senior role. This, along with other reasons, stokes the animosity of Troop's colleague Pinky (Rod Steiger). And when Horgan's young wife Mae (French) starts showing obvious (but unreciprocated) sexual interest in the newcomer, Pinky sees his chance to engineer a lethal end to Troop's influence at the ranch. Also starring Charles Bronson as a fellow drifter and Troop's much-needed ally.

    <title lang="en">Men in Black: International</title>
<desc>F. Gary Gray directs the fourth instalment of the Men in Black franchise. Molly Wright (Tessa Thompson) is obsessed with all things alien. As a young girl, she witnessed a friendly, Furby-esque creature visiting Earth. And despite the MIB agents' best efforts to use the neuralizer on her (that flashy pen thingy that makes normal civilians forget what they've seen), she retained the memories of her extra-terrestrial encounter. She's desperate to join a government agency, but the FBI, CIA et al aren't so keen on her 'delusional' alien theories. When she manages to sneak into MIB HQ in New York, top dog Agent O (Emma Thompson) is impressed by her chutzpah, and offers her a position working out of MIB's London branch, where a crisis is forming in the shape of the Hive, a parasitic race who are threatening Earth's very existence. Molly gets paired up with Agent H (Chris Hemsworth), who seems pretty indifferent about saving the planet by kicking alien butt, even though his boss, High T (Liam Neeson), says H is 'one of the best to ever wear the suit'. Why does this supposed superstar agent no longer care about his job? Can the Hive be stopped? And will Frank the Pug (Tim Blaney) from the first two films make a glorious return? (Yes). Also starring Rafe Spall, Rebecca Ferguson and Kayvan Novak.

<title lang="en">War for the Planet of the Apes</title>
<desc>Andy Serkis reprises his pioneering motion-capture role as super-intelligent primate Caesar for the third instalment in the rebooted Planet of the Apes saga, and now it's simply apes versus humans. The apes are holed up in a fortified forest that they defend from the humans who seek to enslave them. But after their home is raided, Caesar hopes to broker a deal with the humans - leave us the woods and the killing can stop. But a betrayal leads to war, and this time it's personal. Will the Colonel win his glorious war and impress the future generations whose approbation he so craves? Or will Caesar avenge his sons before leading ape-kind, like a simian Moses, to the promised land his son Rocket discovered before his death? One thing's for certain, it's going to be bloody.

Can Anna maintain her double life as both assassin and budding model, or will FBI agent Lenny Miller (Cillian Murphy) blow her cover?
