<desc>Writer and director Louise Courvoisier's tender coming-of-age drama about a teenager who must grow up sharpish when he becomes responsible for his young sister. Totone (Clément Faveau) is living the standard 18-year-old's life of fun and booze and frivolous moped riding when his dad, a cheesemaker and heavy drinker, dies. Now Totone must provide for his seven-year-old sister Claire (Luna Garret). But he's not a fan of working for other people, so he decides to become his own boss and sets out to produce a prize-winning wheel of Comté cheese. Along the way his life is enriched in many ways, including falling in love with forthright teenage dairy farmer Lise-Marie (Maïwene Barthelemy). But is it easy to make serious cheese by making... cheese? In French, with English subtitles.

    <title lang="en">Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon</title>
<desc>Basil Rathbone, Nigel Bruce and Lionel Atwill star in director Roy William Neill's Second World War spy adventure. Sherlock Holmes (Rathbone) smuggles the Swiss scientist Dr Franz Tobel (William Post Jr) from under the noses of the Gestapo and brings him to England. Tobel has invented a revolutionary bomb that could hand victory to whichever side has it. Tobel tells RAF Bomber Command that, to protect the bomb's secrets, he has split details of its manufacture and assembly between four fellow Swiss scientists. Unfortunately, Tobel is then abducted by Professor Moriarty (Atwill). Luckily, Tobel had the foresight to leave a note for Holmes, in pictographic code, naming the other scientists and giving their locations. And so Holmes, Dr Watson (Bruce) and Inspector Lestrade (Dennis Hoey) set out to stop the secret weapon falling into the hands of the Nazis. With Mary Gordon as Mrs Hudson.

    <title lang="en">The True Story of Jesse James</title>
<desc>Borrowing widely from Nunally Johnson's script for Henry King's 1939 version of the legend (and using two sequences from the same production), Nicholas Ray's film stars Robert Wagner as the legendary outlaw, with Jeffrey Hunter as his brother Frank. As he did in Rebel without a Cause, Ray portrays James as a rebel rather than a simple outlaw, driven to a life of crime by Northern sympathisers after the Civil War, as the film follows the last 18 years of his life.

    <title lang="en">Tolkien</title>
<desc>Biographical drama starring Nicholas Hoult and Lily Collins, charting the early life of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit author JRR Tolkien. When a young Tolkien (Harry Gilby) and his brother are orphaned, they're sent to live with a kind, wealthy woman while they complete their education. Tolkien is an artistic soul with a particular talent for language, but his passions are cut short in adulthood when the First World War breaks out. Tolkien (Hoult) and his old schoolfriends all enlist to fight, and the trauma of his experiences at the Battle of the Somme stay with him forever. As do his feelings for Edith Bratt (Collins), a fellow orphan who he meets after his mother's death. Flitting between his formative years at school and his life as a young adult exploring his passions and experiencing the harsh realities of war, Tolkien relays the great inspirations behind some of the most famous works of literature ever written. Directed by Dome Karukoski and also starring Colm Meaney and Derek Jacobi.

    <title lang="en">Moon</title>
<desc>Sam Rockwell stars in Duncan Jones' psychological sci-fi thriller about a man who lives alone on the moon overseeing the earth's 'clean-energy' mining operation. Sam Bell (Rockwell) is coming to the end of his luna-based contract. He's been up there on his own for nearly three years, with nothing but a sardonic-sounding computer with a smiley face named GERTY (voiced by Kevin Spacey) for company. Suffice to say, Sam's losing it a bit. Let's hope it pays well, right? Anyway, as he approaches the end of his stint he gets a message from his wife back on Earth, Tess (Dominique McElligott), saying she thinks the break's been good for them. Then he starts seeing a woman (Kaya Scodelario) around the base. Then he crashes his moon buggy. Then he hears GERTY talking about him behind his back. It's safe to assume that this is more action than he's seen in three years. But things are about to get even weirder. Is it just the effect of extreme isolation on his mind or is there really a plot against him? Also featuring Benedict Wong and Matt Berry.
