    <title lang="en">The Kid Who Would Be King</title>
<desc>Family-friendly fantasy adventure from writer-director Joe Cornish. Alex (Louis Ashbourne Serkis), a 12-year-old boy at school in suburban London, finds himself on the wrong end of a pair of older bullies when he stands up for his best pal Bedders (Dean Chaumoo). When they chase him home one night after school, Alex takes shelter in a nearby building site. There, he finds a mysterious-looking sword stuck in some stone and manages to free it from its concrete prison. Sound familiar? It should, because he and Bedders soon discover that the sword in question is indeed King Arthur's Excalibur. They have great fun playing at being knights, until a strange new kid arrives at school and reveals that he's a de-aged Merlin (Angus Imrie). The legendary wizard informs the boys that by freeing Excalibur, they've awakened sinister sorceress Morgana (Rebecca Ferguson) who, in true evil witch fashion, is dead set on enslaving everyone in Britain for her own nefarious shenanigans. It seems the future of the country is in the hands of these very unlikely noblemen. Also starring Patrick Stewart as adult Merlin.

<desc>Hugh Marlowe stars in Fred F Sears' invaders-from-space sci-fi thriller, which is notable for its dated-but-cute special effects from the legendary Ray Harryhausen. Newly-wed satellite scientist Dr Russell Marvin (Marlowe) and his bride Carol (Joan Taylor) witness the appearance of a UFO. But, only able to capture a sound recording, and no visual images, they are reluctant to report it to their employers. After their satellites are knocked out of orbit and their company suffers a deadly attack, the Marvins uncover the extraterrestrials' plans for conquest. But are they now too late to thwart the aliens' fleet of flying saucers?

<desc>Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt and actually jumps a motorbike off a real mountain for real. It's that exciting. Christopher McQuarrie directs this instalment of the action-thriller juggernaut franchise. Cruise is joined in his energetic brand of espionage by a butt-kicking supporting cast including Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby and Esai Morales. Plot-wise, there's a cruciform key that has been split and its two parts separated to stop it being used. If the halves are reunited it will give the bearer power over The Entity - an AI so powerful that it can control anything and everything tech-based. No one wants that getting into the wrong hands - except the wrong hands, of course. So the Impossible Mission Force are recruited to stop that happening. Can they do it? Who cares, right? Because Tom Cruise actually jumps a motorbike off a real mountain for real! That's worth the entry price alone. Saddle up.

    <title lang="en">A Quiet Place Part II</title>
<desc>Writer and director John Krasinski's follow-up to 2018's hushed-horror hit A Quiet Place. Krasinski's real-life wife Emily Blunt and Peaky Blinder Cillian Murphy tiptoe around the ultra-violent aliens with super-sensitive hearing. Lee (Krasinski) is dead, leaving behind his wife Evelyn (Blunt), son Marcus (Noah Jupe), daughter Regan (Millicent Simmonds) and the baby, who's kept in a box with a little oxygen mask. Because if the baby screams... Well, let's not think about that. When the family get themselves into a bit of bother, they're bailed out by Emmett (Murphy), who used to be their neighbour in less extra-terrestrial times. They're all safe together until Regan takes off in secret to search for a community she believes she's located by radio. This worries the heck out of her mum, who persuades grumpy Emmett to go and fetch her back. Thing is, Regan is hardly helpless. She's armed with her hearing-aid-cum-weapon that blows the aliens' heads up. So can she find a place where her family can live a relatively pre-invasion life? Let's hope the aliens don't hear about it first.
