Darkly tragicomic social media influencer satire written and directed by Quinn Shephard. Danni Sanders (Zoey Deutch) is a low-level graphic designer for New York's buzzy online outlet Depravity. A super-shallow Millennial wannabe influencer, she tells her editor she feels sorry for missing out on all the drama of 9/11 because she was on a family cruise at the time. An attempt to impress her office crush, vapid vaper-boi Colin (Dylan O'Brien), leads to her telling him that she's about to jet off to a Parisian creative retreat. Taking time off work and knocking up some Photoshop collages for her Insta, she's then sucked further into the fiction when her phone starts lighting up with people asking if she's safe. A violent tragedy has unfolded in the French capital, and since she's supposed to be there, she now needs to appear to have been in the middle of it. Reaping the sympathy clicks and invigorated by the attention, she starts attending survivor support group meetings and co-opts the hashtaggy idea that it's 'okay to not be okay' from school shooting survivor Rowan (Mia Isaac). But the lie looms over everything, Danni's work rival Harper (Nadia Alexander) thinks she's suss as hell, and when Danni's out-of-control deceit is discovered, the inevitable online monstering makes her crave her old anonymity.
