They're 'smokejumpers', which involves parachuting into deadly forest fires to, well, fight them. It's all very high-octane and exciting. On a callout to a cabin fire, Jake rescues three impish kids: moody teen girl Brynn (Brianna Hildebrand), boisterous mischief maker Will (Christian Convery), and the youngest of the trio, the tiny Zoey (Finley Rose Slater). Three young lives saved - job done! Back to the station for beers and pizza. Except, the kids' parents are nowhere to be seen, and a legal loophole means that Jake is now responsible for them until they can be picked up.
