    <title lang="en">Kevin Mccloud's Classic Car Road Trips</title>
<desc>Kevin McCloud swaps self-built abodes for open roads and embarks on an adventure driving classic cars in the countries where they were made, to discover more about both the country and the car. Along the way he makes new friends, and explores each country's culture, cuisine, craftsmanship and much more.

Kevin explores Germany's Black Forest in a glamourous classic: a 1960s Mercedes SL that embodies the engineering excellence that Kevin discovers on his journey. At Mercedes' stunning museum in Stuttgart, he's let loose on a replica of the first car ever made. The innovation theme continues at the Weissenhof Estate where he explores a pioneering house by Le Corbusier. Kevin ventures into the Black Forest at Bad Wildbad and takes a leap into the future as he watches a test flight of the revolutionary Volocopter: an electric, multi-rotor helicopter that promises sustainable affordable air travel in the very near future. In the stunning spa town of Baden-Baden, Kevin explores the design of the SL. The town is also home to an architectural oddity: a car church offering spiritual respite to drivers on the nearby autobahn. Since the Black Forest was the birthplace of the cuckoo clock, Kevin visits a workshop to learn the secret of the cuckoo's coo, before he reluctantly hands back the keys to the beautiful Benz. Dir: Salvatore Assenza; Series Prod: Chris Richards; Exec Prod: Tom Porter; Prod Co: BriteSpark Films (an Argonon company)

<desc>Kevin McCloud travels the country to uncover the stories behind the buildings Britain has chosen to protect at the very highest level. Across England, Scotland and Wales, he looks at Grade I and Category A landmarks and asks: why did we save these buildings, and which ones might we one day regret losing?

This time, Kevin looks at bold, modern places that challenge the idea of what heritage can be, and the places that can be the easiest to dismiss and the hardest to save. He steps inside Liverpool's vast, modern Metropolitan Cathedral, which is flooded with coloured light from one of Britain's most spectacular stained-glass lanterns. He visits London Zoo's iconic Penguin Pool, where the penguins are treated to cutting-edge modernism. On London's Southbank, the Royal Festival Hall shows how even the details of a post-war public building, from carpets to doors and handrails, can become protected heritage. And Lloyd's of London, Richard Rogers' stunning inside-out landmark, shows how a modern building from the 1980s can deserve the same protection as a medieval cathedral. But not every powerful modern structure is listed. Ratcliffe-on-Soar's silent cooling towers now face demolition and force a harder question: which industrial monuments will we regret losing?
