    <title lang="en">The Disappearance of Jay Slater</title>
<desc>Within hours of Jay Slater's disappearance in the summer of 2024, mass online interest set conspiracy theories flying, causing a social media storm led by true-crime keyboard detectives. The case became the focus of global attention, with over 30 million videos online speculating about Jay's whereabouts. The Disappearance of Jay Slater is the exclusive story of the year since he disappeared, with never-before-seen CCTV footage, previously unheard audio, the discovery of unsent messages, and access to the Slater family as they search for answers about what happened to Jay. Amid unprecedented speculation around Jay's disappearance, and the enormity of the press intrusion, The Disappearance of Jay Slater was the only media in the world granted full access to Jay's post-mortem, Jay's funeral and Jay's inquest. The film explores the true impact of social media sleuthing - on police investigations as well as the damaging effect on the family and loved ones grieving the loss of their son. Una Crown was stabbed multiple times and her body was then set on fire, but for more than a decade no one was prosecuted for the murder. Detectives from the Major Crime Unit decide to re-open the investigation, hoping that advances in DNA science will mean they can finally identify the killer. Detective Inspector Lee Martin admits that he's shocked by the murder: 'The ferocity of the violence and the death that Una suffered is unspeakable.' Cameras follow every twist and turn of a high-pressure new investigation which seeks to understand why, despite the brutality of the attack, police who initially visited the scene didn't recognise that Una Crown had been murdered. Fortunately, a re-examination of forensic exhibits leads to the hope that recent advances in DNA testing might finally help to solve the crime. Police suspect they know the identity of the killer but will the science back them up? Dir: Charles Critch; Exec Prods: Jermaine Blake, Simon Ford, Amber Ronowicz; Prod Co: The Garden

<desc>The landmark documentary series that captures real life drama at its most intense, following police detectives around the clock as they investigate major crimes

The UK's biggest and most successful true crime documentary series continues with a two-part special following the inside story of a cold case investigation into the brutal murder of 86-year-old Una Crown in 2013. Una was stabbed multiple times and her body was then set on fire, but for more than a decade no one was prosecuted for the murder.

Cameras follow as the tests done at a forensic laboratory finally reveal a partial DNA match to a suspect. It turns out the man the police identify had been previously arrested but released due to a lack of evidence. Police decide to arrest the suspect and begin to interview him in the hope that, despite 13 years of denial, he will finally confess. This is real-life drama where the facts are more shocking and compelling than the best crime fiction. <desc>Nigeria is home to one of the world's most prolific film industries. In the conservative northern city of Kano, Kannywood produces movies for more than 80 million Hausa speakers. But the region is governed by strict Sharia law, and actresses and filmmakers face intense censorship and moral scrutiny. On a rowdy set, reporter Anja Popp meets pioneering director Mansurah Isah, one of the industry's few female directors, as she battles a censorship board that can ban films and end careers. As they strive to reflect the challenges that Hausa women face in a male-dominated world, we observe Mansurah anguishing over a childbirth scene that risks being cut for showing too much of a woman's body. Popp follows her to a crucial censorship board screening that will decide her production's fate. Under Kannywood's religious restrictions, actresses can also fall foul of the censors and conservative family expectations. Popp meets actress Samha Inuwa who was suspended for a social media post deemed 'vulgar', forcing her to abandon acting and build a beauty business to survive. For rising star Amina Shehu, choosing to act has meant losing her family's support. In a society where women are expected to marry and stay at home, pursuing independence comes at a painful personal cost. Yet in southern Nigeria's booming Nollywood, women are box office powerhouses, although they too say success demands relentless resilience in a male-dominated culture. <desc>Two famous consumer brands, leading rivals in their field, go head-to-head for our money. Why do we love them so much? And who's best?

Primark and John Lewis slug it out in Britain's most unlikely high-street retail rivalry. Kate Quilton uncovers how John Lewis, long-time pillar of middle-class UK, famed for wedding lists and Christmas ads, has found itself battling against cut-price upstart Primark, with its hit homeware ranges and viral beauty dupes. As wallets tighten, people want a cheap pick-me-up - a lipstick, a quirky mug, a cosy blanket - and these two giants of the high street are going all-out to deliver. With access to both retailers, Kate goes behind the shopfronts to find out how Primark muscled in on John Lewis's turf. Former and current insiders spill the secrets of both retailers' strategies. Primark built an empire taking over empty old department stores with low-cost fashion and is now switching it up with cut-price cosmetics and fun homeware. But John Lewis is fighting back with affordable ranges, plush new beauty halls, and even warehouse robots whizzing out online orders to ace the war online. <title lang="en">Transformers: Rise of the Beasts</title>
<desc>Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback star in the seventh instalment of the big-bad-bots sci-fi action franchise, directed by Steven Caple Jr. Now, bear with. It's the 1990s. Unicron (Colman Domingo) is a massive robot that eats planets. That's bad. He's served by the aptly-named Terrorcons, who are also bad. The Maximals are part animal, part robot - one looks like King Kong in armour, another has some feathers. They're helping Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen) and the other Autobots to fight Unicron's forces. These are the good guys. And they've all come to the Earth. Obviously, we don't want Unicron devouring our planet. But who will win? There's only one way to find out... (sorry to plagiarise, Harry Hill). Two things are for sure. 1) There's going to be mayhem and destruction. 2) It might be difficult for Noah Diaz (Ramos) and Elena Wallace (Fishback) to do much about it, being puny humans and all. Also featuring the voices of Ron Pearlman (Optimus Primal - the gorilla-bot dude and not to be confused with Optimus Prime), Peter Dinklage (Scorge) and Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh (Airazor - not a brand of air freshner).

Short:
(2023) Seventh instalment in the frenetic sci-fi franchise. The Maximals - part animal, part robot - join the Autobots to fight against planet-munching Unicron and his Terrorcon cronies. Fight!
